The John Theurer Cancer Center is the largest photopheresis treatment center in the world. The program is led by Michele Donato, Medical Director, Blood & Marrow Collection Facility.
Photopheresis instruments have been developed and refined as a means to improve and shorten the treatment experience for patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) while maintaining safety and efficacy. The John Theurer Cancer Center is one of the first cancer centers to offer THERAKOS™ CELLEX™ Photopheresis which is the latest-generation instrumentation system.
THERAKOS™ CELLEX™ incorporates innovative and advanced technologies to provide a new level of patient-focused care. Treatment time with the CELLEX™ System can be approximately half the time required with previous models and offers the advantages of reduced extracorporeal (outside of the body) blood volume, new separation technology, and single- or double-needle configuration.
