PATIENT SUPPORT, RESOURCES, AND ACTIVITIES
JTCC’s social services provide comprehensive care to patients and their families. This support during cancer treatment is a patient’s ally to enhance the mental stamina necessary to meet the challenges of cancer care. The Social Services Program exemplifies our commitment to providing multidimensional therapeutic interventions to assist the cancer patient and his/her family in coping with all the issues surrounding a cancer diagnosis. Our experienced staff can help you understand your reactions and can collaborate with you to develop effective strategies to improve the quality of your daily living. The Social Services Program staff provide therapy, counseling, education and concrete services to optimize each patient’s and family’s well-being.
John Theurer Cancer Center offers a dedicated Patient Advocacy Program to help make our patients’ experience as comfortable and positive as possible.
We recognize that a cancer diagnosis and treatment can be overwhelming for both patients and their loved ones. Led by our Director of Patient Advocacy, Sharon Lee Parker, our staff is available to answer any questions or concerns you may have throughout the course of your treatment. Every patient is our most important patient.
John Theurer Cancer Center offers a wide array of nutritional services designed to maximize the nutrition status of each patient. From counseling to awareness, the cancer center’s nutrition services team is dedicated to providing patients with extraordinary care.
The Pastoral Care Department of Hackensack University Medical Center was established to support the medical center’s philosophy of total patient care. Its purpose is to meet the spiritual needs of patients, especially as it relates to their medical conditions and individual theologies.
At JTCC we offer physical exercise and yoga classes, cooking lessons, gardening and art training among other activities for our patients and their caregivers. Speak to your scheduler or any staff member about these activities. For more information on yoga click here.
